Stewart is an approachable entrepreneurial Finance and Operations Director with demonstrated record of success in both SME’s and corporate companies. Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Young (now EY) he spent the first 14 years of his finance career within Corporates in manufacturing and transport and logistics, following which he moved to work closely with privately owned businesses. He first worked with a family owned Engineering and Training business turning from long term loss making to profitable before raising the finance to complete an MBO, becoming an Owner/Manager, when the family decided to divest it from their other international interests. He successfully completed several subsequent acquisitions.
Following this he has had further successes, working for corporates and private companies in sectors including Apprentice Training, Food Processing, Engineering and Manufacturing before joining with the FD Centre to work with progressive SME’s. As a strategic thinker, his approach is to execute the strategy by using tools including communication plans, performance management, KPI’s, product profitability analysis and working capital management to increase Shareholder value and help SME’s reach their full potential.
As well as Finance and Operational roles, Stewart also has considerable experience in HR.
Stewart was called as a Barrister in 2009 as he felt it could add value in his role as an Owner/Manager. He is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.
