Peter has held a number of senior finance and general management positions since qualifying as a Chartered Management Accountant.
His experience has predominantly been gained in engineering and manufacturing, having worked for Uniroyal and Russell Athletic amongst others. However, he has also worked as Finance Director for Towergate in Scotland and was Finance Director of a DC Thomson subsidiary that became a key part of the group’s strategic growth plans.
His strengths are in being able to quickly identify what makes a company tick and implement change and development programmes to support shareholder aspirations. As part of the senior management team at a machine tool business he led a strategic business review that resulted in turnover increasing by 150% in 4 years. This took the company from a loss making entity to one that generated profits in excess of £1M and was done by refocusing the business’s activities in the North American and Chinese markets and opening up a software division in California.
He has been involved in fund raising activity from parent companies, as well as from Business Angel groups.
His excellent cash and people management are two of his main strengths, as are working with stakeholders at all levels.
After leaving his position as Managing Director of a small engineering business, he set up his own consultancy company and has supported businesses in the medical device and electronics industry, as well as in the Not for Profit sector, as they worked through ERP implementations and business sales.
