Paul Nichols is a Chartered Accountant having qualified with Price Waterhouse in 1998, since when he’s spent over 20 years in commercial Finance roles. He has operational and international experience through to Board level. His broad range of finance and general business skills have been developed across both multinational corporate and PE-backed SME environments.
Paul worked in financial services and a dot. com start up before a 10 year spell at De Beers ($7bn turnover rough diamond mining and sales). Paul set up the company’s UK Business Partnering function, spent 2 years as Finance Expert in the Group Strategy team, and managed a multi-functional team to set up new international marketing offices across 5 countries.
In 2011 Paul joined Coach Inc, a US listed luxury accessories retailer, as European Finance Director at the start of its expansion journey in Europe. At Coach Paul was responsible for all aspects of Finance, IT, Supply Chain and Store Operations as the business expanded from $2m to $135m omni-channel revenue and achieved breakeven in Year 5.
In 2016 Paul joined Chesneys Ltd, a SME and international premium retailer and manufacturer of premium fireplaces, stoves, and architectural stone products. His appointment as CFO coincided with Private Equity funding. Paul left Chesneys in early 2020 following the sale of one of the 3 divisions of the business.
Paul enjoys the business of selling authentic high quality products and services that one can be proud of. He loves working with small businesses because of their innate growth potential, and loves working carefully with management to identify the ways to unlock it whilst balancing the need for sound financial governance.
Paul has a wife and 2 school aged children, loves the great outdoors, and is holding on to a single figure golf handicap, and his hair.
