Jim Laslett – Principal, Kent
Jim is a commercially minded CIMA qualified accountant.
After obtaining a Business Studies degree from Kingston, he started his career in Lucas Industries, where he was responsible for analysis of business performance, using an array of KPI’s.
He then became FD of Frame Express an SME retail business with 15 shops in London. Exceptional growth required careful cash flow planning and a good banking relationship. With the owner, Jim prepared the company for sale, realizing a PE in excess of 15X.
Jim moved to Silent Gliss, a family owned business supplying high quality curtain tracks and blinds. During his tenure as FD the company grew by 4 times. His experience here included setting up a division, which was later hived off as a separate company and subsequently sold. The company also moved to new premises and Jim secured funding of £3m to build the new factory and offices.
More recently Jim was FD of Rextrek, a flexible innovative company which designs and sources clothing for quality brands such as Hackett, Nigel Hall, Henri Lloyd, Ben Sherman and Barbour.
Having worked in entrepreneurial owner managed businesses for some years, Jim is fully aware of the financial challenges that face growing businesses.
Jim has recently joined the FD Centre and is looking forward to working with more entrepreneurs and MDs of ambitious companies.
