David has been a CFO for over 30 years in a variety of industry sectors, primarily with SME businesses, but also with plc experience with revenues ranging from sub £1m to £250m. Most of those roles have been with international and multi-site organisations, helping develop strategy and completing the steps to implement that planning. This has involved operating across multiple industries including media, publishing, software, technology, environmental, business services, on-line retail and auctioneering.
Acquisition, and disposal, activity has been a continuous theme for David, with more than 25 transactions completed both in the UK and overseas with deal sizes ranging from £1-£500m. These often involved raising funds with a variety of funders; high street banks, private individuals, investment banks and private equity. He has been mainly involved with growth or change environments and has also managed a number of businesses through cash stressed positions, to bring them to a secure on-going trading position.
These companies have often had external investors which David has managed relationships with, including private equity, high net worth individuals, city funds and former owners. As such he understands the need for both good communication and strong governance processes.
David has strong experience in system implementations, controls, process development and has installed strong, timely and relevant reporting in several businesses. Always commercially involved, he is keen to develop other team members to maximise their development and deliver an all-round finance service to the business.
