Chris has over 20 years’ experience in Finance, qualifying with Deloitte as an ACA (now FCA) in 2003, and going on to have an extensive career in industry across the Construction, Retail and Medical Devices/Pharmaceutical/Healthcare sectors in roles ranging from Group Accountant, Financial Controller and latterly several years as a Finance Director and Board member.
He has worked under various ownership models ranging from family-owned, through PE-backed, to Plc, and in various sizes of businesses with turnover ranging from £30m to £1.4bn.
Chris takes a hands-on attitude to his work, which has seen him lead M&A activity from start to finish, including due diligence, modelling, negotiation, and project managing a multi-disciplinary integration. He has also led restructuring and transformation initiatives, which has encompassed process and systems improvement, people development and mentoring, overhauling management information and reporting, and tightening controls around working capital/cashflow management. More recently, he has contributed to an IPO that was part of a significant FTSE 100 listing.
With a solid technical accounting background from his time in practice, Chris also has a very commercial focus and fully appreciates how the importance of robust, accurate and timely financials can support key decisions around a business in terms of defining it’s strategy for growth, be that organic or through funding/M&A activities.
He is a keen collaborator with a clear style of communication and a willingness to understand the drivers of a business and the intentions of it’s key stakeholders. Chris also appreciates how an FD and Finance team are key business partners and can add real insight and value around decision-making on both financial and non-financial matters.
Chris is keen to bring the variety and extent of his experience to helping SMEs develop, grow and achieve their ambitions.
Outside of work, Chris spends time with his wife and 2 sons, enjoying music, sport and travel.
