Bill is a highly personable, very commercial, operational, and strategically minded finance all-rounder.
Having trained and qualified in Practice, he was extremely keen to move into industry and now has over 25 years of Board level experience, gained predominantly within Manufacturing SME’s with turnovers between £7million to £120million.
Bill has worked in the Food, Printing & Packaging, Steel Door Manufacturing and Jewellery Industry and has held Finance Director positions within owner managed, Private Equity owned companies as well as Privately owned Groups and a £120million PLC Group. He has a proven track record in working very closely with Business Owners and Senior Management teams to deliver profitable growth, turnarounds, and sustainable added value.
Bill has purchased a business via MBO, having personally secured the external funding to do so, drove significant profitable growth with the Management Team, and then managed the pre-sale ‘business grooming’, sales marketing, negotiation and due diligence process and ultimate sale of the business to Private Equity buyers.
He is a hands-on problem solver who particularly enjoys working with non-financial teams to really drive business clarity, continuous improvement and strategy to maximise value for all stakeholders. He is a challenger of accepted ‘norms’ who thrives in an open, collaborative and progressive working environment.
Bill has proven experience in building strong, competent finance teams as well as solution driven cross functional teams across the Company and business partnering with commercial and operational teams. He is also experienced in the specification, negotiation and delivery of ERP Implementation Projects.
Bill joined the FD Centre to allow him to further work with a diverse number of progressive owners and Management teams and make a real difference within their companies.
Outside work, Bill enjoys spending quality time with his family. He is a keen sportsman (anything involving a ball in particular) and enjoys travel and photography.
