Alan Cutler – Principal, Northern Home Counties
Alan qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton and then moved into industry spending the majority of his subsequent career in roles with an international focus including overseas-based positions.
His early experience was in operational finance: developing teams, management reporting processes and systems of internal financial control and reporting, working hand-in-hand with operations and project teams. As he moved up the ladder he worked on integration of acquisitions – corporate and assets – and on the disposal of a private equity-backed entity. During this period, he worked closely with domestic and international partners and government ministries and through offshore vehicles and joint ventures. His international experience has given Alan a detailed understanding of currency and FX management.
In 2008 he moved into his first CFO role and has held several such roles in private and private equity backed companies and, latterly, an AIM-listed entity, acquiring excellent experience in financings – debt, equity and alternative – acquisitions and disposals, strategic reviews and organisational restructurings. He has strong experience of working through joint ventures and with supplier partnering and out-sourcing models.
Alan is a team-player and works well with people at all levels of an organisation and across organisations, particularly enjoying working with operations teams to produce high value solutions. Through his career, Alan has developed excellent cash-flow and financial modelling skills and, with his experience managing treasury, IT, HR and C&P functions, he is a well-rounded, hands-on and enthusiastic FD.
