Bill Young - Principal, Scotland

Bill Young is a Business graduate of Edinburgh University who went on to become a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland while training with KPMG in Glasgow.

Bill joined Prestwick Holdings Plc where he became Group Finance Director of the fully quoted electronics group. Whilst in that role he bought and developed for Prestwick Electroconnect Ltd, a young electronics company based in Irvine.

In 1994 he led a management buyout of that company which was involved in electronic design, pcb manufacture, pcb assembly and box build. In 2003 having identified the escalation of electronic manufacturing companies leaving the UK for both Eastern European and Far Eastern bases he went out to Slovakia and formed Electroconnect Slovakia. In May 2005 formed Eastern Eagle Enterprises Ltd and that company then bought a 100% holding in Electroconnect Slovakia. Moved the company to new larger premises and built it up to almost 40 people who produced electronic sub assemblies. In May 2007 Bill sold the business to a fast expanding UK electronics group who required a presence in Eastern Europe.

Having helped integrate the business into the group Bill stayed on in a business development role concentrating on helping the Group break into the Oil and Gas market, as well as working in Defence, Aerospace and Alternative Fuel markets.

Bill has also served as a non-executive Director of the Ayrshire and Arran Health Board. He lives in Alloway and has been a member of the Entrepreneurial Exchange for eight years.

He is a keen sports fan, having played Junior football (semi-professional) in Ayrshire and still plays premier league tennis there. Also a keen golfer, hopefully a Turnberry member from next season onwards.
