Martyn Johns - Principal, The West Country

Martyn spent the earlier part of his career working within the corporate sector, cutting his teeth at GEC followed by senior finance roles in Turner & Newall, Rolls Royce and Albright & Wilson.  In 1988 he became Finance Director of a privately owned speculative house builder that grew rapidly in the 1990's recession.  This provided the passion that Martyn has for SMEs and the fascination of working with owner managers.  For the last 12 years he has worked in providing consultancy advice to owner managed SMEs in a variety of different sectors.  The advice has included strategic planning, re-financing, succession planning and practically working as part time FD within several businesses.  He has a vast experience of working in different sectors but mainly in engineering, manufacturing, construction and business services.  He is a results driven pragmatist who sees the big picture and enjoys working with business to develop strategies that deliver business objectives.
